Australian people are generally very friendly. We are very hard workers on the weekdays but like our “off-time” to watch sport and relax at weekends.
There is an expression in Australia of “a fair go” we pride ourselves on giving people a fair chance and will welcome anyone who makes an effort to be nice to us.
If you are invited to an Australian’ home for dinner or a BBQ you may be asked to bring something – maybe a salad or some bread. Most dinner parties are BYO – which means if you drink you should bring your own beer or wine. If you are asked to bring food why not make a traditional dish from your country? Australians love trying new food and the effort will be greatly appreciated.
If you are told to “just bring yourself” it is customary to bring a small gift for your host, a bottle of wine or chocolates are the most common.
